SLAP! is a deliberate expression of street art, employing bold movements with slapstick collage and text as graphic elements. The unsanctioned nature of street art represents the pushback and rebellion against the politics of a given time and blank utility of our built environment. It aspires to inject life and energy through colour into our surrounds.  Here it is expressed and shown in a gallery setting, but its heart is on the street.

The collaborative works with Lee Woodman embody the to and fro game played with one tag on top of the next, working with and against another to finally stop at something neither could have imagined alone.

Ann Braunsteiner was born in Austria and now resides in Nelson.  Currently artist on the loose & co-director of 18a project space….
