Jamie Smith

Jamie Smith is a Nelson ceramic artist whose functional stoneware balances form, texture and everyday use. Introduced to clay by his ceramicist mother, Jamie developed his own practice of throwing, glazing and firing.

Alongside his own work, Jamie co-founded Kiln Studio with fellow potter Thom Baker, creating a space for making, teaching and connecting the local ceramics community. Jamie also plays a leading role in delivering Nelson Clay Week, helping bring together artists, makers and audiences from across Aotearoa in a celebration of contemporary ceramics.
