Kirsten initially studied science and holds a BSc (in Zoology and Ecology) from Canterbury University. In 2021 she graduated from Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology with a BAM (Visual Arts and Design). She was the recipient of the Jens Hansen Gold and Silversmith Excellence Award and the Nelson Suter art Society Distinction Award for BAM2021.
