Stan Bowski

Stan Bowski constructs 3-dimensional abstract works that are inspired by architecture and man-made structures.  He aims for a simplicity of form and a pared back aesthetic.  Ply is a favourite material and the beauty of the wood is allowed to be part of the work. His most recent series of work incorporate compositions of coloured blocks housed in rectangular recesses in the main body of the board. 

One artist that has a major influence on Bowski is the American Abstract Minimalist Donald Judd. Judd described his work as a “simple expression of complex thought”. This sums up how he feels about his art practice.

Stan is originally from Brighton in the UK but has lived in Nelson since 2003.
