"I am an early bird!  Never one to sleep-in or display night-owl tendencies.  Finding myself without a studio space in 2020, and with the restraints of the Covid 19 pandemic, I met my creative urges to respond to the abundant inspirations of a new environment by composing poetry, prose and sketches whilst walking our dog along the Mãpua foreshore and around the inlet at first light.  I love the multitude of weather conditions, generous skies, ever changing tides, prolific birdlife and moody light. An environment in a perpetual state of flux and a great place and time to get lost in my thoughts.

We had recently sold our property of 20+ years, along with the studio/sculpture workshop/foundry, and inspired by this daily stimulation, I became increasingly excited about a new chapter in my art practice, and the challenge of returning to painting.  With the new studio space completed, I revisited my notebooks and musings, and along with an eclectic taste in music as company, they informed the works in this recent exhibition 'Abundance'.
