Darryl Frost
Darryl Frost is a full-time ceramic artist and sculptor based in Tasman, working with clay since the late 1980s. Widely respected for his mastery of anagama wood firing, his work is known for its raw, expressive forms and richly textured surfaces shaped by flame, ash, and time.
Drawing deeply on the geological forces and landscapes of Aotearoa, Darryl’s ceramics explore the tension between solidity and movement, structure and collapse. His practice embraces both skill and unpredictability, allowing the firing process to leave its mark on each piece.
Darryl has received national and international recognition, including a Diploma of Honour from the World Ceramic Biennale in Korea. His work is held in public and private collections in New Zealand and internationally.
