Steve Bolton
Steve Bolton is an Auckland based painter, printmaker and cartoonist. As a painter he works primarily in oils, ink and acrylics with acrylic paint also used in most of his monotype print work.
Creating work in both abstract and figurative styles, and across a wide variety of subjects, his painting, prints and illustrations often include elements of humour. With people, places, humanity, history, science and the human experience all common themes.
Much of his work is conceived and executed in a semi dream state, a third place, somewhere between reality and possibility. While grounded in the real world and real-life experience, it also seeks to explore the unreal and a human experience beyond the tangible and material.
He exhibits regularly and is a long-time contributing cartoonist to the New Zealand Listener.
